As if to remind the Screen Actors Guild that not all actors reside in the U.S., CBS tonight (Friday) premieres Flashpoint, produced with Canada's CTV, the first all-Canadian import since Due South debuted a decade ago. CBS ordered the show last January during the writers' strike. Reviews have been mixed. Newsday TV writer Verne Gay commented that the first half of tonight's episode "is tautly produced, before there's a dramatic -- and dramatically dull -- downshift that'll get you ready for beddy-bye. Tonally, this is not a CBS crime show; it's a CTV one, or maybe a BBC one. For American tastes, that alone could be fatal."
