FINAL SWEEPS WEEK A MIXED BAG

The penultimate results episode of Fox's American Idol last Wednesday attracted 24.9 million viewers, making it the top-rated show of the week. But although Tuesday's performance episode of Idol came in second for the week and the Fox drama House landed at No. 10, CBS's overall line-up performed more consistently, averaging a 6.7 rating and an 11 share. ABC placed second with a 6.2/12, while Fox settled for third in the overall ratings with a 5.6/9. (Nevertheless, it was No. 1 with the 18-49-year-old demographic that advertisers court.) NBC, which placed only one show, Law & Order, in the top 25, was far behind with an average 3.6/6. The top ten shows of the week according to Nielsen Research: 1. American Idol (Wednesday), Fox, 14.6/22; 2. American Idol (Tuesday), Fox, 14.4/23; 3. Dancing With the Stars (Monday), ABC, 11.9/18; 4. CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, CBS, 11.2/17; 5. Dancing With the Stars (Tuesday), ABC, 11.1/17; 6. Desperate Housewives, ABC, 10.7/17; 7. Grey's Anatomy, ABC, 10.5/16; 8. Without a Trace, CBS, 9.6/16; 9. NCIS, CBS, 9.5/15; 10. CSI: Miami, CBS, 9.1/15; 10. House, Fox, 9.1/13.
